This week has been marred by death and tragedy. We lost controversial rapper Xxxtentacion as he was shot at a car dealership. As if this wasn’t enough, God decided that he would take another star from this planet.
Koko the gorilla passed away this week. This is not the first time we’ve dealt with the tragic loss of gorilla life as the death of Harambe is still very much present in our everyday life.
Koko was special. He has mastered sign language at a young age, something most humans can’t even do. His talent earned him celebrity status. He was often seen roaming the block with stars like Robin Williams and Betty White. Koko was 46 years old when he passed away.
Although he is gone from this world his legacy remains. Nobody will ever forget his appearance on the cover of National Geographic in 1978 or his 2016 video with Red Hot Chilli Peppers bassist Flea, where he fires of a quick jam session on a guitar.
Regardless of how you felt about Koko’s actions in his controversial life at the end of the day we should all be able to come together and mourn the passing of a true icon.
