Gonzo & Beez Drop Laid-Back Thought Provoker with “Minute Steak”

Following up his debut 2018 project, 19 Years, DMV native Gonzo just dropped his newest flames, this time in collaboration with the Connecticut-raised Beez, a fellow rapper at Elon University.

The track features rap verses from both artists, and a swooning chorus from Gonzo, showing off his smooth melody atop a circular low-fi beat that is entertaining but doesn’t take any shine away from the duo’s conversational verses.

“When I was first making the beat I had been listening to a lot of Knxwledge and wanted to make something soulful and dusty,” Gonzo told us. “Once I had the beat finished, the verses and hooks kind of wrote themselves.”

Closing out the track, the two trade bars, hopping on and off the beat, showing chemistry that implies historical work together despite only recently starting to work in tandem. “Finalizing the track was relatively easy once my parts were recorded because Beez came ready with notebooks on notebooks filled with crazy bars,” Gonzo said. “Overall this was a really natural music-making process.”

Maybe a duo collaborative project is in the works? Fans could only be so lucky- if Gonzo means it about Beez having notebooks on notebooks of lyrics, then their combination of creative lyrics and production would be a great one for an EP or album.

The track is a nice transition into the shelter of winter, inviting the listener into a cozy chair by the fireplace with a pair of comforting voices playing in the background.
