Scenes 11.5: Nationals Crowned World Champions

Moment of the Week: Nationals Win the World Series

The Washington Nationals are World Series Champions. Let that sink in for a second.

A thrilling series, brilliant performances, and a fantastic outcome is what headlined this World Series. The Nationals were +5500 odds to win the World Series on Jun. 17 which was the 15th best odds to win at the time. The Nats defied their mediocre odds completing a fantastic run to end the regular season, getting through a red-hot Brewers team in the Wild Card, defeating a Dodgers team that many had foreseen reaching the World Series, a Cardinals team that went 91-71 during the regular season, and finally the Astros in the World Series who Jim McIngvale put a 3.5M dollar bet to win it all. What a run it was.

A lot had to happen for the Nats to be crowned Champs. Some of the notable headlines were Howie Kendrick’s HR off the foul pole in Game 7 of the World Series, Ryan Zimmerman’s three-run shot in Game 4 of the NLDS, Juan Soto’s single to right in the NL Wild Card, and many more. This season is something Nats fans will remember forever.

Take of the Week: Alabama Defeats No.1 LSU Next Saturday

The biggest game of the 2019 college football season is upon us, as the top ranked LSU Tigers take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. The Tigers just came off an impressive 23-20 win against the 11th ranked Auburn Tigers with RB Ja’Marr Chase having an impressive day with eight carries and 123 yards. Joe Burrow hopes to add on to his Heisman resumé with a massive win against the Tide.

Alabama may be undefeated, but they have not done as well as many expected. That could all change if they knock off the best team in the country this Saturday.

Stephen Strasburg Opts out of His Four Year Contract

World Series MVP Stephen Strasburg has opted out of his four year $100 million contract deal and will become a free agent. But don’t worry Nats fans; it has been reported that Strasburg and his agent are already in talks with the Nationals about a new deal.

The right-handed pitcher went 5-0 in the playoffs and was a huge contributor to this team’s success. The Nationals hope to get him back, as rumors are spreading he could return to San Diego to join the Padres in his hometown.
